Lee Mingwei: Sonic Blossom
Lee Mingwei’s Sonic Blossom will transform The MET’s Contemporary Modern and Asian galleries into an intimate stage with personalized per- formances for ten days during museum hours.
Lee’s concept for Sonic Blossom grew from his emotional connection to Franz Schubert’s Lieder as a contemplative sanctuary, and his desire to share that gift with the public. Born in Taiwan, living in between Taipei and Paris, Lee Mingwei creates participatory installations where strangers can explore issues of trust, intimacy, and self-awareness, often through one- on-one interactions.
